Nursery
Nursery (Foundation Stage One)
At St.Petroc's Primary School we have our own purpose built nursery. Staff provide an inviting, inspiring and motivating space for children to become curious and to develop their 'Bring It!' attitudes to learning. We prioritise the Prime Areas of learning, supporting children to develop their personal, social and emotional skills, while holding communication and Language skills with high importance.
Our nursery follows the acclaimed Anna Ephgrave 'Planning in the Moment' approach which is based on the principle that children learn best when they are following their own interests. We value our parents' knowledge and understanding of their own children, therefore, we love to involve our parents in sharing their child's current interests and any special occasions they may have currently going on at home. In addition, staff carefully weave themes reflecting experiences linked to seasons and stories through provision enhancements, allowing children to interact with them at their own pace and in their own unique way. Staff will extend these interests within our class provision and spend quality time interacting with the children, meeting their next steps, 'in the moment'. Children's brains are most active and open to learning when following their own interests. We love watching where it takes us!
At St.Petroc's we offer sessions to suit your needs. We cater for 30 hours funded places, with days starting at 8.45am and finishing at 3.15pm. Parents can sign up for morning sessions (8.45am - 11.45am), afternoon sessions (12.15pm - 3.15pm) or all day sessions. Morning and afternoon sessions can be extended by including the 11.45 - 12.15pm lunchtime session.
Our school offers wrap around care from 7.45am breakfast club and afterschool club until 5.15pm for any parents who require extended days. Funded hours can be used to accommodate this.
Proverbs 22:6 Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
