Art

We develop our pupils as young artists to express their; feelings, thoughts and observations in creative ways. They study the work of different artists and practice skills and techniques to enable them to produce high quality work of their own. Wherever possible we exhibit children's work so that others can be inspired and gain enjoyment from it.

Intent

That all children are exposed to a range of skills, techniques and artists through the provision of an art education accessible to all.  Our curriculum is designed to spark creativity, imagination and exploration, enabling all children to develop as young artists.

Implementation

A carefully structured programme of study that covers drawing, painting, sculpture and artist studies, that progresses year on year and features cross curricular links.  Art is taught every half term and documented in sketchbooks, digital galleries and in exhibitions.

Impact

That children leave St Barnabas MAT having embedded a range of transferable artistic skills, enabling them to express themselves freely and confidently.
