About Us

About us

St Petroc's Primary School

We are working hard as team to create a culture (what we do) and climate (how it feels) that all staff and children can thrive in. Let me tell you more about life at St Petroc’s.

·    We have a team around the child team composed of senior leaders, parent support advisers and specialist teaching assistants that provide support for individual children and parents.

·    Our old school hall is used as a breakout/nurture space for children that need physio, a space to calm or specialist intervention.

Our behaviour and relationships policy is based upon our diamond rules:

·         Show good manners at all times

·         Follow instructions with thought and care

·         Care for everyone & everything

Each Friday we celebrate with Hot Chocolate Friday where nominated children receive a certificate from myself and a sachet of hot chocolate. (to be relaunched in September 2023)

We have large outdoor grounds including a Wild Tribe area for outdoor learning. Children experience shelter building, using tools for a purpose, fire building and cooking on a campfire.

We have our own Nursery which follows the early years curriculum and provides opportunities in a variety of ways to learn skills in all the areas of learning.

As a church school we have an assembly or collective worship each day. This is always invitational, offering an opportunity to take part whilst allowing the freedom for those of other faiths and none to be present with integrity. I often record my assemblies so that children can watch them in class. Recent themes have included autism, diversity and inclusion, friendship, being healthy and anti-bullying. We also refer to British values during our picture news assemblies.

The school has its own bike track which children also use for running too. We also have a very active cross-country club.

There are over 500 children at St Petroc’s. However, we have staggered breaks and lunchtimes. Each phase of the school has its own area, so it never seems like there are so many children.

We love our maths and we use Power Maths, Times Table Rockstars and 99 club to support our teaching. This is what our children said about maths:

‘Fun and exciting’

‘Best lesson in school’

‘Amazing and challenging’

‘Best Subject and Brain Working’

I really hope that this website and our social media posts gives you an insight into our school. Please contact us if you want to find out any more information.

Best wishes

Mr. Perfect. Head of School.
