Parent Support
My name is Mrs Sheila Jackson; I am a Parent Support Advisor for St Petroc’s C of E Primary School. I have worked in primary schools for over 11 years. I have a NVQ 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools and I also have a Diploma in Trauma Informed and Mental Health in Schools (Practitioner Status).
One of the roles of a Parent Support Advisor is to work closely with children and families who may be experiencing difficulties, this could be as simple as a misunderstanding with friends or it could be a more complex issue such as bereavement or a change in family circumstance. It may be that the support is needed for a short while or it could be a longer process. I believe the emotional welfare of our pupils is of the greatest importance. As a dedicated Parent Support Advisor, I take time and care that's needed to be sensitive and compassionate towards parents and children ensuring the best outcome for families.
