The Only Way To Learn Mathematics Is To Do Mathematics— Paul Halmos

In FS2 the children are taught maths skills through daily 'Mastering Number' sessions and 'Power Maths' sessions. During these adult led inputs, staff impart knowledge by modelling, questioning, explaining and providing a narrative. Children are provided with opportunities to explore new concepts using manipulatives to solve problems in a practical way. Challenges are added to provision linked to new learning to allow pupils to practise and further explore and embed the skills.
