Role Play

We don't stop playing because we grow old...we grow old because we stop playing.' - George Bernard Shaw

At St.Petroc's nursery we value the importance of role play to help children to make sense of the world around them. Research shows that a child's capacity for creative thinking and cognitive development are linked closely to role play. Role Play supports children to increase their vocabulary and develop their communication skills which will help them later on in life. Our nursery has a home corner set up all year round to allow children to imitate routines and situations that they observe around them and to learn from each other. Themed enhancements are added to the environment linked to pupils interests to allow them to play imaginatively in role through an interest that motivates them.
