Meet The Year 6 Team

Mr Scott - Teacher

My favourite book series is the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins due to the mystery and unpredictable nature of the story line and the empathy that you build for each of the characters (apart from President Snow!). It was one of the only series of books that I couldn’t put down! Whilst at primary school, my favourite book genre was horror and this led me to Goosebumps by R.L.Stine. For me, the feeling of suspense that the author manages to build into his writing is incomparable to any other genre. But that’s just me!

Mrs Jones - Teacher

I absolutely love reading and my favourite books were written all about a young wizard.  Can you guess who I am talking about?  That’s right it is Harry Potter.  When the books were first published they were usually released in June which is when I was busy writing reports for my class.  It then became my own personal treat to read when I had finally finished writing the last report.  Waiting was hard but it made me work hard to get the reports completed and what a reward awaited me.  I have read the books with numerous classes since then and always enjoy them as much as I did on the first read.  I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy Harry Potter as much as I have.

Mr Wendon - Teacher

Hello everyone, I’m Mr Wendon and I’ve been teaching at St Petroc’s for four years with this being my third year in Year 6. I love teaching Year 6 and all the fun that comes with the final year of primary school – it’s definitely the best year! One of my highlights is the fact that we get to read my favourite book: Holes by Louis Sachar. I love all the twists and turns, flashbacks and surprises that it contains and even though I’ve read it multiple times, it still makes me excited every time I pick it up. On top of that, I love rugby (and most other sports too), spending time with my family, going to the beach and of course, a delicious pasty!
