We investigate, hypothosise, ask questions and create fair tests. We are curious and work methodically to investigate processes and collect data. We use our previous knowedge to ask questions and predict what we think will happen as a result of our experiments. We understand that science is fundemental in improving our lives and understanding the world and beyond. We feel a sense of awe and wonder as we discover more about natural phenomenon and processes. We rocket to the stars, tunnel deep underground and submerge ourselves within our oceans.
We are Scientists.
At St Petroc's Church of England School our vision for Science is to give every child a curriculum that enables them to explore and discover the world around them, confidently, so that they have a deeper understanding of the world they live in. This is achieved through practical, engaging, hands on experiences that encourage curiosity and questioning - there are no wrong questions! Our aim is that these exciting and challenging experiences help our children to secure and broaden their scientific knowledge and vocabulary. We believe that these opportunities will ensure that our children are confident, life-long learners who will never stop asking questions and explore the world around them.
“The greatest gift is not being afraid to question.” – Ruby Dee
“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has it’s own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe of eternity, of life, of the marvellous structure of reality.”- Einstein
