In the second half of the Autumn term we began our topic called "Winter wonderland". Our big question for the topic is "What makes winter special?"
We began by looking at the 4 seasons and what changes occur, we looked at photographs of our local area throughout the seasons and discussed the changes.
In science we talked about what would happen to Olaf the snowman in the summer. The children shared lot's of lovely ideas about how we could prevent him from melting and then we carried out an experiment to find out if any methods would work.
In geography we looked at maps of the world and our globe and asked the question, "Why is it summer in Australia but winter here?" We talked about the equator and the sun moving around the earth.
Now we are focusing on the Nativity story and the celebration of Christmas. We are hard at work practising our Christmas plays and can't wait to share them with you!
